More Information about RSS

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) gives MTD riders the ability to subscribe to frequently updated information. Instead of having to visit the website to see if any new press releases or Metro articles have been posted, you can use RSS to alert you.

RSS presents information in an XML format, such as news articles in a list, giving a line or two of each article and a link to the full article or post. Unlike subscriptions to many printed newspapers and magazines, our RSS subscriptions are completely free.

How can I make use of RSS?

To take advantage of RSS, you will need a program called a news reader. This will monitor and display RSS information feeds from your chosen websites, including MTD.

There are a range of news readers available, many of which are free of charge. Most are available as desktop software that you download and install on your computer.

How can I sign up to RSS feeds from MTD?

To sign up for RSS feeds from MTD, simply select a section that interests you from the choices above. Click on the orange XML button or section title and follow the instructions for your particular news reader to subscribe to RSS feeds.
