MTD Recognizes Employee Excellence

The MTD acknowledged employee excellence at its 32nd Annual Awards Presentation held June 6, 2010 at CityView at Illinois Terminal in Champaign. MTD bus operators, maintenance and administrative personnel, retirees, Illinois Terminal employees, and long-term employees were recognized at the banquet and awards presentation attended by MTD Board members, employees, and their guests.
Outstanding Performance and Safety Awards were presented to operators, maintenance employees, and Illinois Terminal staff. Operator Safety Awards were presented for having zero preventable accidents in the previous calendar year. Criteria also include excellence in customer service, performance, and attendance. Dave Gilliland was presented a 30-year Safety Award; Doug Weaver was presented a 25-year Safety Award; and Beth Davis, Ron Lewis, and Greg Williams were presented 20-year Safety Awards. Multi-year outstanding awards were also presented to Dennis Elliott, Steve Heater, John Mangian, Gary Sullivan, Steve Pittman, Jr., Paul Fortna, Charles Johnson, Tom Franks, Sharon Dillman and Dan Murphy. Operations Service Recognition awards for Outstanding service were presented to 70 employees. Outstanding MTD Maintenance Service and Illinois Terminal Recognition awards were presented to 19 employees
Bill Volk and Tom Costello were recognized for being with the MTD for 35 years; Janet Ashby, Ed Durkin, Tho Lam, and Dave Moore were recognized for being with the MTD for 30 years.
MTD is proud of the safety records and outstanding performance of the many employees honored at the banquet. These employees personify and exemplify the District’s commitment to safety and performance excellence.
